Beginning in 1927, the Burma Shave shaving cream company put up road signs
all over the United States and other parts of the world. The signs were
spaced a few hundred yards apart and were designed to be read one line
after the other as the vehicle proceeded down the highway. They became
very popular as they were often both safety oriented and humorous.
