We believe that something magic takes place here and the
magic is generated by our patrons and staff, in part, by
following our traditions.
Our primary tradition is that of Shared
Pain and Joy. We try hard to help those in need and we also
share joy as it comes. Please read
What is Callahans? to
learn more about this central tradition.
Toasting
Toasting is also one of our most cherished traditions. It
is considered good form to make a toast from time to time -
either in conference or on our message board. A toast can
be as simple as, "To world peace" but it is
important that you toast for it often leads to sharing.
You should try to understand
The Importance of Toasting.
Pundays
Puns happen all the time in Callahan's.
And sometimes conferences turn into regular
punfests. When this happens, relax and join the fun!
Feeling down..? Grab a duck and listen for announcements
of our Punday Night (Tuesday) conferences.
Operation Butterball
November 15 to December 31
An annual tradition at Callahan’s Saloon.
Each November 15th, we launch a drive to donate food, money
or supplies to local shelters or food banks. Pledges are made
on our message board or via email but the actual donations are
made locally. This is our community's way of sharing our
blessings with others, returning something to our local
communities as a way of giving thanks for those blessings.
The "Box"
Okay - but we can't tell you about the "Box"
- so nevermind - but you might ask about the Book 'O Rumors!
Gatherings
Our first official Callahans Gathering took place in
Washington, D.C. in 1995. We've hardly missed a chance
to meet annually since. We find Gatherings to be a great
way to safely meet those people we've come to know and
love in Callahans. You may
judge for yourself..:)
We try to move the Gathering city around every year so
that sooner or later we get close enough for everyone
to participate..:)
