I wrote this piece for
*Hexsister*. She wanted a jig, but what came out is
a weird amalgamation of single, double and slip-jigs,
wedded to a march and a joak. Go figure.
Cayce's Waltz is dedicated to Bits' daughter Cayce,
who is a nice person, and someone who deserves a tune of
her own. I imagine her dressed in Victorian finery,
dancing at Fezziwig's Christmas Ball when I hear it. :)
I wrote
Catherine's Waltz for [CATHERINESM] after she said she
liked 'all sorts' of music, thus giving me carte blanche
to do whatever came to mind. Cat's waltz is what came
to mind. :)
Here's a tune called
Hangin With You.. a jazz composition.
It probably ought to be called "Hangin with Lou"
though, as it is dedicated to him. I took my time
dedicating a tune to Lou (aka 'ROSE8364') because he has
been the forum host here for a long time, and deserves
the best I have to give.
I am dedicating
The bits Behind the Bar to bits for being just about
as neat as a 63" inch tall person could be. The music
was meant to be a bit of Appalachian clogging music, but
I turned the ethnicity dial too far to the right and
ended up with something more appropriate for an English
clog team. Oh well... still a nice tune, I think. :)
And this one is
for Peter, because
I think he's the carp's elbows. :) It's a composition
I did in 1999 - a combination pavane and galliard written
in the style of English Renaissance music right before the
Jacobean period -- think 1595.
Or better yet, don't think of the music at all! Listen to
the tunes, and think of our good friends at Callahans! :-)
Cane, I call this one
Caneguru's Rant
which is both a pun and a jest: a 'rant' is a kind of
dance step English Clog dancers do. And as we all
know, you rarely rant! (Leastways, not the vocal kind...
don't know about the dancing part.) Hope you like it...
One for Silky is a tune I wrote for Silky. She welcomed
me to Callahan's first of all the fine folks here, and helped
me to decrease my sorrow and increase my joy. She's like
that. So... one for {{{{{Silky!}}}}}
Callahan's Jig is a tune I wrote and dedicated to
Callahan's Saloon. I thought it appropriate that such
a great place have at least one tune of its own! In
times to come there will no doubt be Callahan's Reel
and Callahan's Slip-jig too!
Callahan's Cleaning Day was written about a thread of
the same name, where we were all put to work. I figured
a good cleaning day tune was appropriate, and fashioned
it after some poetry (well, lyrics, more like...) that
got posted in the thread.
Tad Tending is a tune I wrote in honor of Tad's first
experience behind the bar at Callahans. It was funny and
cute... he served pepper, gravel, lard... all sorts of
stuff.... but no actual drinks. LOL! I harbor hopes that
Tad will find the bottles and kegs one of these days.
BooBooBob
Kaptain Kate
Lady Laughing is a reel I composed for Carol
(LADYLAUGHING). It started off as a simple piece for
Bagpipe, but grew into something else. Composition is
like that sometimes. :)
Mary Edna mentioned that she likes jazz. It's a pretty
diverse genre, so I went with what I know best: bop/swing.
To you jazz afficionados out there: yes,
this tune
is reminiscent of 'Straight, no chaser.' No, it's not
the same tune. :o)
