.LASH> hey, those could be famous lines someday.  better copy them down
BITBYDOGS> lol
.Alan> lol

BITBYDOGS> a friend of mine has thought about creating a book of nothing but poetry in it and has asked me if she could use that one..told her i would have to think about it

BITBYDOGS> kathy, she is planning on doing pastels for the backgrounds of the pages
.Nan> Sounds nice Bit..
.Kathy> That sounds wonderful....maybe a Web version too?
.Nan> Hey, where is Button Pat?
BITBYDOGS> possibly
.Alan> brb
.Nan> That would be really nice Kathy...I like that idea ...of a web version..
BITBYDOGS> we've talked about a web version, but i don't know if i have the strength to create it for her
.Kathy> Nan, do your greeting card messages generally rhyme?
.Nan> No...very rarely do they rhyme Kathy...don't know why...
.Kathy> Well, Bit, if you came up with a template, you wouldn't have to create over and over....
BITBYDOGS> <giggle> scanning all the pages she plans to put it this book might over-load my scanner
.Alan> I'll tell you Bitby.  You get energy from bring able to do something creative.  I know it sends me, And I'm new at this.
.Nan> Like it better that way ..I guess..
.Kathy> Well, I've been struggling with free verse vs. rhyme...
.Alan> I have as well
.Kathy> To me, free verse is a LOT more challenging.
.Kathy> Rhyme is so natural to me...
BITBYDOGS> i'll have to suggest the idea to her again and see what she thinks. if worse comes to worse, i'll have a friend of mine help us out
.Kathy> I have a hard time distinguishing between free verse and poetic prose.
.Nan> Really Kathy?  I am surprised ...you are soooo good at writing..
BITBYDOGS> when will you guys have this chat again?

.Alan> BYe Lash.

BITBYDOGS> most of the things i write..usually reflect around love
.Kathy> I rarely write about love.
.Nan> That's nice Bit...
.Kathy> I think my best poems are character sketchs...or commentary.
.Kathy> Romantic love, Bit?
.Nan> Did you do the one with the chick in the elevator with the two guys Kathy?
.Alan> I have to admit,  I usually let my creative expressions reflect the darker side of my thoughts.  I lets them out and I can be free from them.
.Kathy> Nope, didn't do that one Nan...
BITBYDOGS> it was really nice chatting with you all, but i think it's time for me to hit the bed so i can hopefully get over this crud

.Kathy> I often write spur of the moment poetry...
.LibbyLibby12>  it takes a heap of livin in a house to make it home, a heap of sun and shadow and you sometimes have to roam.

.mary> that's posting? extemporaneous?
.Alan> I usaully have word pad on the side to cut and paste from
.Kathy> I write it in Notepad or Word....then highlight it all, press CTRL C, then return to the chat window and press CTRL V....

.Kathy> Libby, that was great!!
.Kathy> Dang...missed her. :(
.Nan> I'll have to try it that way Kathy...

.Alan> no, but go ahead
.Suzie> If you remember my previous poems, I have been writing a series on issues associated to crossdressing. So run away now if you think you might be offended, even though everything is very "clean."

.Suzie> In small town basketball we Visitors
.Suzie> joked ourselves into our uniforms,
.Suzie> nervous in the lingering perfume
.Suzie> of Home girls’ locker rooms,
.Suzie> and those odd machines on the wall.
.Suzie> It was an honest break: my shoestring
.Suzie> snapped when I retied it during warmups.
.Suzie> Coach told me where to look for his
.Suzie> equipment bag behind the red steel door.
.Suzie> I was alone by the lost and found.
.Suzie> A pair of taupe pantyhose curled
.Suzie> like a brown snake on the edge of a box.
.Suzie> One pink half-slip. There were other things,
.Suzie> a brush, two combs, barrettes and ribbons,
.Suzie> a pair of glasses, a pair of tennis shoes.
.Suzie> But nothing mattered then except
.Suzie> that satin sheen, that nylon hiss,
.Suzie> and I scooped them clean to the inside
.Suzie> pockets of my jacket, and prayed the game through
.Suzie> that no one would see my bulges on the busride home.
.Suzie> I am stealing tomorrow to dress again,
.Suzie> twenty years from high school basketball,
.Suzie> when the cheerleaders chanted success
.Suzie> and whispered things no boy

.juan dela cruz> TITLE:    AUGUST 21, 1983
> .mary listens
.Cortland> I hear.
.juan dela cruz> i had a long day at work
.juan dela cruz> and also tired from school at night
.juan dela cruz> it was the last thing i could think of
.juan dela cruz> as i lay in bed my roommate rushes in
.juan dela cruz> and gives me the bad news
.juan dela cruz> it wasn't shock that i felt
.juan dela cruz> it was more of
.juan dela cruz> "where has he been all these years?"
.juan dela cruz> we had no classes next day
.juan dela cruz> what seemed like a rumor was now
.juan dela cruz> gripping reality
.juan dela cruz> an old politician
.juan dela cruz> exiled in a foreign land
.juan dela cruz> unable to express his sentiments
.juan dela cruz> in his own country.
.juan dela cruz> we wondered then
.juan dela cruz> why would he come back
.juan dela cruz> to meet death, guaranteed.
.juan dela cruz> seemed strange for a man
.juan dela cruz> known for a fast wit and intelligence
.juan dela cruz> but now we understand
.juan dela cruz> we now know he had to pay
.juan dela cruz> the ultimate sacrifice
.juan dela cruz> so that his beloved country
.juan dela cruz> will finally meet freedom.
.juan dela cruz> indeed, he became more dangerous
.juan dela cruz> now that he is dead.

.Alan> Hello EK
.Suzie> I like it, juan. I like it a lot. I knew a filipino exile myself, a great man and a great teacher.
> .Kathy listens...
.Alan> Woops, too late
.juan dela cruz> he was imprisoned and exiled during the martial law years. he was going back as he felt alone in the states
.Kathy> That was an excellent piece, Juan...
.Cortland> Yes, very impressive!
.Brigit> very intense
.Alan> *Applause*
.juan dela cruz> little did he know that his death will cause a revolution and bring his own wife, a housewife to occupy the highest office of the land.
.Suzie> juan, did you happen to know Bienvenido Niņo Santos?
.Alan> Little did he know.
.juan dela cruz> he is a great filipino author
.Suzie> He was a truly great teacher too, juan!!!
.Kathy> Cortland, you have an old one?
.Kathy> <G>

.Cortland> So will I rise
.Cortland> .
.Cortland> So will I rise again as he
.Cortland> The faithful say who died
.Cortland> To save us from our sins once did,
.Cortland> Or drift upon the tide?
.Cortland> Which waits not for affairs of men,
.Cortland> But moves the oceans deep
.Cortland> And carries in its depths the dead
.Cortland> Who now forever sleep.
.Cortland> Forever sleep! A goal so sweet,
.Cortland> A Lorelei so fair,
.Cortland> Who beckons with a golden comb
.Cortland> To join her if I dare.
.Cortland> .
.Cortland> Forever sleep, and never dream,
.Cortland> If God indeed is kind,
.Cortland> But lay down all life's futile cares,
.Cortland> Delusions of the mind.
.Cortland> Forever sleep, aye, there's the rub,
.Cortland> And never wake again,
.Cortland> Unknowing in an unmarked grave
.Cortland> While lives the world of men.
.Cortland> Forever sleep, and never love,
.Cortland> Nor sunrise ever see,
.Cortland> No canyons deep, no valleys green,
.Cortland> No happy tears set free.
.Cortland> .
.Cortland> Forever sleep, without a call
.Cortland> To rouse and rise once more,
.Cortland> While moves the tide unending still,
.Cortland> And washes on the shore.
.Cortland> So will I rise again as he
.Cortland> The faithful say who died,
.Cortland> Or pay with cold and darkness for
.Cortland> A pure and lonely pride?
.Cortland> Forever sleep! An end to pains,
.Cortland> All great and large and small;
.Cortland> An end to joy and love and hope,
.Cortland> An end, indeed, to all.
