Diane's death
did not stop her son
her sun this time
by Jeanne Khan
Limerick 1
There once was a Spider, one Callahan
Who drank just as well as could any man
But one night was too much
And cost him his touch
As well as his legs, eyes and any hand
by Dan
Limerick 2
A spider on the wall at the Pub
slipped and fell into the steaming hot tub
climbing out wet and frazzled,
Callie's patrons were dazzled
a drunken spider had now joined the club.

Rhymed Verse
Here's a Shakesperean sonnet by LEGION.
Sonnet #4 - 13 April 1996
My lover has a smile meant just for me,
Laden with promise, it clears out my mind.
Perhaps it is something only I see,
For we are so close, just two of a kind.
But we are so far, that we can not touch,
Nor speak to each other, 'though we can hear.
I can not tell her, I love her so much,
It might hurt us, I still feel her so near.
We've both given so much, laughter and pain,
I can't tell who I am, so much is her.
I've lost much of me, but not all my gain,
Some is still left, 'though the tears make it blur.
When we're apart, we're each missing our soul:
We two are still one, two halves of one whole.

Refreshment (Free Verse)
There's always pain to write about; |
Unhappiness and tears |
Or loved ones lost with heartsick cost |
Or agonizing fears |
|
Such pain is eased when brought to light |
And shared with caring friends; |
We see and hear ourselves more clearly, |
Furthering our mends |
|
But how much more, the benefit |
When writing of our joy; |
Of heartening and hopeful things |
That tend to lift and buoy? |
|
Our readers gain new love of life, |
Such cheerfulness revives |
And we, like they, this simple way, |
Refresh and warm our lives |
