Opening Toast

To friends left behind and questions unanswered, may they find peace and know that caring people are valued no matter how much the pain.

-- Debbie SCIAF 6/28/98

Manager's Corner

Callahan's is like a box of chocolates.. you never know what you're going to get..:) Our toast this month comes from a recent conference. It was a Sunday night conference and I wasn't having a whole lot of fun because one of the patrons was sending me unpleasant messages.

Then out of the blue, another patron entered the room and began sharing both pain and anger over an event in his life.

And the group coalesced into a support unit. Tried to help. Tried to answer the unanswerable questions, offered support and comfort until he had to leave. It is so important to have someone to talk to in some moments in our lives and the *group* began listening as one.

And then two more things happened. First, the person who had been sending me nasty messages sent me an apology for doing so .. and left.

And second, I got that warm fuzzy feeling that Callahan's gives you when realize something special has happened in a room.

I love this place. Thank you all!

Lou

Conference News

Please join us Sunday Night for our celebration of 5 years of existence of Callahan's Saloon being on Delphi! The party starts on July 12th at 9 pm EDT. If you know of email addresses of old time patrons, please invite them. Come see old friends, win door prizes and have a drink with us to help us celebrate. See you there..:)

Sally and Mitzi pulled off our joint Zodiac/Callahan's conference on June 16 without a hitch. Kudos to them both.

And thanks to Jackie and Nadine over in the Zodiac Community for helping. It was very interesting and great fun.

In the conference, we learned that MaryEdna is sensitive, an actor, emotional and looking for applause. That Crowley is philosophical, generous, likes to tell it like it is and likes applause. Nanc is no longer a Pisces. We are going to assign her a new sign :) Sandra is logical, practical, sensual and stubborn. Will is practical, conservative, traditional, responsible, sensuous and a perfectionist. Cyndi is musical, artistic, compassionate, a martyr and spiritual. Mitzi is a worker, not leader, organized, analytical, likes lists, being social and applause.

Thanks everyone that attended and made our special event the success that it was!

Top story in Conference news: Lou said, "poop" in conference this month. Is the pressure getting to him..?
Jackie returned home from Alaska earlier than planned, having broken her wrist in a riding accident. Poor Jackie..what a way to start summer..:(
Ada, MOMERATH, stopped by this month to announce her bid for the Presidency in the year 2008. She was advised that Nanc is running in 2000 but seemed unimpressed. More to come..
Not only did we NOT learn who SweePea's father was this month, but, the question came up as to who his mother is, too. Can *anyone* help..?
We heard that Ski and KB had a bio-meeting this month. Ski reported that KB is very lovely and somewhat shy... KB..!?! Shy..!?!

Birthdays This Month

Birthday Greetings were heartily extended to:

Tyra   TYRABANKS   June 22
In fact, we had an impromptu birthday party for Tyra..:)

Riddlers of The Month

Joke of The Month

Q: If Eve wore the first fig leaf, what did Adam wear?

A: A hole in it.

-- Dan Culberson

Poem of the Month

The jokes were flying fast
Mindful of days gone past
We all laughed out loud
Sides were sore in this crowd
Each joke seeming better than last.

-- Leprechaun (aka Doc)

Pun of the Month

You realize, when Thoreau was in a good mood, it was a case of "Thoreauing up." There are many things the world does not understand.

-- KathyC in Post 26209

Closing Quote

I believe there isn't enough room in my life for disbelief except for that which has already been proven false.

-- CatBirdLady June 5, 1998
