Opening Toast

To the Internet, and the virtual community it has established, and the friends I've made. Home is where you hang your @.

Manager's Corner

People show up for chat at all hours of the day and night. The Web is, after all, worldwide. We don't always have moderators available when folks drop by but we should always have caring patrons - even if none of them ever visited us before...:)

We look to you, our patrons, to help set the tone or mood of the place, especially when staff or tenders are not present. Please remember that we are a sharing, caring community and help us make new folks feel welcome.

One good way you can help is to read through our Welcome to Callahan's Saloon web pages to become more knowledgeable and then to refer newcomers there when they ask questions. And thanks!

Having trouble finding us..? With all the new thousands of free Custom Forums being created on Delphi Internet, and with all the new categories Delphi has created to accommodate the new forums, it's understandable.

To help you get around, Delphi has also created the "My Delphi" page. This gives you a personalized menu for visiting favorite places, entering chat immediately or for posting on Callahan's (and other's) message board.

First, you need to link to your "My Delphi" page. Then, simply bookmark or save it as a favorite! Doing so will help you find us more easily in the future.

With the changes, Callahan's Saloon is now located under the Entertainment, Lifestyles and Creative Arts categories on Delphi's main page.

And finally, you could simply bookmark or save this page as a favorite!

Conference News

Our conference highlight this month was our Saint Patrick's Day party. And party it was. We had 34 patrons the first hour with 17 at one time. A great mix of long time patrons and new folks. Thanks to all who made it a fun night!

Pan visited one night this month and, when told of all the recent goings on threatened "to Jell-O bomb the lot of you" Enough said, no further changes being contemplated.

We learned from CEJ from Aukland, New Zealand that the electricity in Aukland (the capitol of NZ) has been off for 3 weeks with relief not expected for seven more. Anyone reading this know that?

Where are Bruce and Star..? They were last seen on Valentine's Night having decorated the joint romantic-like. Several patrons recently posited interesting theories as to their whereabouts but we await the definitive answer.

Message Board News

It was Irish Month and almost everyone talked about it and celebrated it in some way or another. We had Irish songs posted from HI413, lots of great ones from MITZIPROCTOR, PHDESMOND, and a special one from KA5S which mentioned trousers in a stew... <those wild and Crazy Irish guys!!>'

We had humorous posts from RISSABRIANNE, CRSCOMP, TEXICAN, ARTWORK, NFM, GRIBBIN , and PHDESMOND.

Somehow KA5S got involved in a discussion about whether he was half Jewish from the waist UP or the waist DOWN... Maybe that's what made him remember the Irish song about the trousers!

We laughed at various comments and current jokes involving Clinton, Monica, and getting sex from aides...

Poetry was plentiful and we enjoyed the submissions from NFM ;), KA5S, ROXANNEELIZ, KYLERE, KATHYC, PHDESMOND, JBECKER1, and LILBETT.

SALLYC1333 shared an adopted girl's vision with us. The little girl explained that being "adopted" meant that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of in her tummy!! ;)

ROXANNEELIZ opened a lively discussion when she wondered if any of us had met any online friends in real life. She was feeling a bit nervous as she'll be meeting a romantic interest in England. We all wish her well and hope she shares some of her experience with us when she returns.

And PUNS! We had some puns! Some really good ones were shared by COREYD and KATHYC <who's a magician with the things>!

GRIBBIN had arthroscopic surgery but made a wonderfully rapid recovery and we hear his hijinks on the golf course are once again up to par ::grin::

DAWNSLITE is also having surgery this month and our best wishes for her rapid recovery will hopefully see her back with us quickly.

KA5S told us about the Jewish tradition of Purim which happened to fall on St. Patrick's day this year... a double reason to celebrate ;)

ROXANNEELIZ teased us all with a post about a missing dollar...which I think we found in a bordello somewhere !?!?!

Mitzi shared some info about that little green flower, the Shamrock. Read all about its roots. Oooops! Pun alert! <G>

DAWNSLITE is living the spirit of Callahans each day as she is supporting and bolstering a roommate who's just emerging from being the victim of an abuser. Her posts have reminded all of us how priceless and comforting our friends are when we're in times of special needs. Huge {{hugs}} to you Janice!

New to our board this month :) PRICEHL, TEXICAN, ARTWORK, ROXANNEELIZ, WEEWEEBLE, SALLYJB, BYTEHELP, JUNIE101, GATORBILL, MIAMARIA2, LILBETT, JOLIEE, COREYD, and HOPEPCH. ...<And if they weren't new I thought they deserved special mention anyway!>

Whooo boy, and then did we ever get posts under the topic of Political Activism.. Ooops, so sorry, it's time to go now!!!

Joke of The Month

A priest, a minister and a rabbi were talking about when life begins. The priest said that life begins at conception.

The minister disagreed, saying that life begins at birth.

"You're both wrong" said the rabbi, " life begins when the children finally move out of the house!"

Poem of the Month

Walking Leprechaun

I saw a tiny leprechaun,
Upon a cushion perched.
He vaporized til almost gone,
And everywhere, I searched!

T'was such a stroke of luck for me,
To see this little man.
Perhaps a toast, and we shall see
The elf, himself, Mike Callahan!

-- KathyC

Pun of the Month
