The Wind And The Rain

The wind and the rain keeps sighing,
Their sound echoes the grumbling in my soul.
Together an unnatural crying,
The keening mocks my foolish goal.

Distant lightning, glowing heartbeats,
Crackling thunder, tardy tendresse.
Growls bass notes to the chatter of the streets,
Whirling winds swirl the earth undressed.

"The trees are bare!" I cry. "So is my spirit."
But storms also cleanse, refresh and nourish.
Soggy dew upon the ground so bereft of it,
Dust turns to mud and puddles will flourish.

I can fear life; my dank day o'erwhelms me,
all nature's grief, sprung from a distant sea.
