Untitled I

Too often have I felt the sting of shame.
Within its clinging flame my pride doth melt.
To wit, alas, I am the one to blame;
The blows to my esteem, with tears are felt.

Despite my guilt, I struggle with my woes
Fighting against those who keep me thus bound,
A shifting shadow trudging 'cross furrows,
Yearning to soar instead of hug the ground.

Inflamed by pelting blows that hound like fate
My soul quails not against this pounding, which
Against all my passion and thoughts, do grate.
But rather, soars on wings -- I will not ditch!

These Gossamer wings do limit my flight,
yet transcend this plane, erasing my plight.
