Why Mammoths are Virtually Extinct

(Written to Arnie after we neglected his Calliversary.)

A special treat the mammoth's needing,
Some extraordinary feeding.
Do mammoths dine on Calla lilies?
We hope he doesn't get the willies,
But gather blossoms by the score,
To offer up, upon a door,
That same through which the mammoth entered
Patched, a thing now many splintered,
Calla-portion entree to
Wish the mammoth, right and true,
Belated though the date may be,
A merry Callaversary.

Adelante, Dante! Kadima haChaver!
The mammoth does not stop to share!
