What is family?
Is it born of blood and bone,
or of bonds, willingly forged?

Who are our true families?
Those to whom we were given by birth,
Or those to whom we have given ourselves,
Freely?

Who are our brothers and sisters?
Those with whom we share our blood and heritage,
Or those with whom we share our visions,
Our hopes and our dreams?

Who is truly able to say,
whether family is relatives of the flesh
or relationships of the heart and spirit?

There are as many definitions of family
as there are stars in the heavens.
So why should only one be right?
