Callahans and Politics

Arriving I felt I had come home,
to a place I had never before,
wise talk and occasional pun tome,
made me yearn for a daily encore.

Alas comes November so quickly,
and gentlefolk rev up their ire,
and kindly is traded for preachy,
and less does the yacking inspire.

Of political talk I am weary,
harsh words are pretended debate,
and speaking my mind makes me leery,
so I have been quiet of late.

I wonder if Spider'd sit lightly,
and join this loud bunch for a beer?
If so, I hope someone will tell me,
'cause I'm headed with Norm down to Cheers.
