Conference News
A Conference/Chat report from Jennie:
It was a hot humid night when people started climbing in. Well, they couldn't have been
dropping in because we were on the rooftop. Around here, I guess they might have been
dropping in anyway.
I sashayed around and tried to make sure everyone had a full glass and a boa. Amber
joined us, but she had a cold. Sorry Amber. Moby checked in
from Portland. He makes a wonderful burger! Cameron hopped on in just as I
began to serve the frozen treats. fstop came to visit us. Welcome, fstop!
Jadoft joined us after a busy day that included fuel pumps, grandson and
wine. Sounds like a winning combination! And JimK also kept us company. I
did feel the need to take his keys away since I kept pouring rather quickly in his direction.
He didn't have car keys with him so I took the house keys. Next party's at Jim's ;)
IM and Carol arrived, one on the other's heels. Soon after they arrived demons
popped up and people started falling out and popping in. Things got messy for a little bit. Of
course the conversation drifted around to photos from the Gathering and at this point there is
only a stray here or there buried in the threads in this folder. KaptnKate has
been very busy but made some time for us. I am definitely hoping she makes it to the next
Gathering! Moby too! And of course everyone!! But Moby and Kate both missed this past one and
seemed to be trying to make it to the next one. Maybe it was all my sashaying around ;)
Jakester arrived in time for the fried food buffet. And Carol took us on a
magical trip to the shower photo from the Gathering. Unfortunately, everyone was not able to take
the trip. I handed Kate a crayon and gave her the address but she said I had to stop talking so
she could write it down. Me! Stop talking? Ha! PBWizard waved to me from his home
across the river.
Which sent chat into a different direction with us discussing regions and assumptions.
Fuzzy came in long enough to help me serve up some more food. I had to keep an eye out
over his shoulder. Fuzzy was a great help though and didn't seem to eat too much before he
offered them around. Silky not only made it in to chat with us, but made it into
chat with us repeatedly! Bits even duct taped Silky to the rafters, and remember,
we were on the rooftop! THAT takes quite some skill!! Dwarvenkind received a pair
of harem pants when I began outfitting everyone for the belly dancing. Which all got started
simply because Carol said IM was being too quiet. Jallenecs popped in while we
were back to discussing the picture from the shower. Silky is holding the shower thingy (technical
term, sorry), Sandy is on the far left, I (Jennie, aka Jes) am in the red shirt
and Mandy is in the green shirt, while Lou seems quite content
and Carol is on the right side. Dwarvenkind said he feels like the trac ball on a missile command
game when in chat. I understand that quite well as I seemed to miss saying good bye to a lot of
people because I didn't see them leaving. I shouldn't have had my eyes on the bar and my hands and
legs wrapped around the lamp post I guess. But I was having fun! I had a wonderful time and want
to thank everyone for coming to the party!!
Message Board News
From Carol:
Sue (Suemo), Bits (lbts) , Claurican, Mitzi (mtproctor), The Pixies (CelticPixie)
and many others discussed the ramification of the
Eminent Domain decision from the U.S. Supreme Court. And Chris gave us a glimpse of
an other country's prospective on this very thing which suggested we are all not so
different after all.
Bits (lbts1) kicked us off with
You know you’re a good neighbor if thread. We learned a lot about each
other in this funny little thread. We still wonder why Lou’s (Rose8364)
neighbor still calls him Naked Guy (or did I misread it ) and Mandy (Iniondia)
waters everyones flowers. Kindness and humor abound in this one.
Callahan’s Saloon is a place of bonding. When one of us become ill, or is admitted to the
hospital we all pull together and light a candle of warn thoughts and well wishes.
Walt (WWW) was admitted to the hospital for heart surgery and everyone kept checking
the board for updates. Distance in person, close at heart. The good news to report is that
Walt did well with the surgery and is recouping (dreaming of the nurse) at home. Stay well Walt !
Budding photographers are all the buzz this month. Ken (drangd) put out a
question to photographers and the answers and suggestion came rolling in.
In a flash, Ken has his answer and so did others who wasn’t quite sure how to do some things.
Quick! Lou asked,
When does boiling water and beans become bean soup? In edit: And should I
panic yet? What a hoot ! Lou is cooking ! Bean soup ? Soup beans? We’re not sure but Lou is in some
hot water that’s for sure. Oh - and Clauricaun, we determined, is full of beans. How do we know
this? Why else would he offer up a 15 bean soup recipe. LOL In after thought, we never did find
out if Lou was successful with the beans but he sure knows how to cook a frog !
Many times we ask of ourselves and others just as Cyberrapto2 ask in the enlightening thread entitled
Are we really entitled? After some discussion and debate about who we are and
what we want we found ourselves agreeing that we want more than we are entitled too. Interesting
thoughts and ideas can be found in this thread..:)

Q: How many teamsters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Twenty-Seven. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?

Pun of the Month
From Punday Night, June 8th, 2005
The ship's steward was trying to figure out where everyone would sleep-
--it turned out Kenny had severe claustrophobia and needed to be able
to see outside or he would go nuts-
the steward's notes read:
. . . . . .
. . . . . .
" KennyBunkPort hole"

Poem of the Month -
"Black Hunger"
The air goes up,
I spread my rightmost pinions more and bank
Into the thermal I have found.
Unthinking; what you call my mind
Intent on what lies down below.
There, on the ground.
A household pet, perhaps
Impatient for his master's happy treat,
Who careless, finds a car
In one last dash across the street.
Or maybe then a rabbit,
Alert but unaware,
He guards against the fox and dog
But not the air!
The wind goes down, I close the wingtip,
Bank away
And look for yet another thermal.
Young the day,
While wind allows, I hover, still
And search the sun-seared earth for what can fill
Black hunger.

Closing Quote
"Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
But they don't get around
Like the dandelions do.
