Opening Toast

"To Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross,
I hope your strength and courage have carried you to freedom among the stars!

*** Smash! ***

- Bits (LBT1) August 26, 2004
On hearing of the death of Dr. Kubler-Ross

"Her book 'On Death and Dying' was one of the most influential things I read while in nursing school. Her observations and teachings helped me develop ways of working with dying people and their families in a 'human way' as much as possible in a hospital environment..."

Manager's Corner

"Sharing!"

Hi all..

"Shared Pain is Lessened,
Shared Joy is Increased."

Spider wasn't the first to say so either. But at Callahans we take Spider's stories and try to breathe real life into them. Sharing our thoughts and feelings, our outlooks and ourselves is an important part of what Callahans on DelphiForums is.

We share on the board, of course - and in all our various folders. And that means we share in the R.I.P. folder, too. Some patrons may be getting tired of hearing me talk about R.I.P. but it's important to me that we all appreciate the value and potential of the folder.

It helps us share.
It helps all of us share.

I've spoken of other aspects of R.I.P. but sharing is as important as anything else we value about it. For some patrons, Callahans in general may be the only contact they can deal with in life. And a kind place like the R.I.P. folder may be the only place they dare share their views about life.. and about life's issues.

We have made friends with people at Callahans who have said this to us. And we very much want Callahans to remain a place where all people are made welcome. We need to be kind in Callahans - and in R.I.P. We need to listen as people share. We need to understand each other better.

And we need your help in all these things.

Lou

Joke of The Month

A man ran into his doctor's office with a carrot in one ear, a cucumber in the other and a banana up his nose.

"Doc!" he screamed, "What's happening with me????"

The doctor replied:

"You're not eating right."

Pun of the Month

Did you hear the one about the woman who caught her husband making a toupee out of a rabbit pelt?

She asked him how far he would really go to hide his bald spot. He replied, .
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

"A fur piece."

Poem of the Month -
"Orion Rising"

I saw Orion rising
The morning after I heard
That you had left us
I heard the stars sing
In a voice so like yours
"Remember me" they said
As if I could forget.

Did you see Orion rising
Before you left this world?
Did the stars sing to you
As your spirit flew away?

I see Orion rising
And I remember you
I hear the stars sing
In a voice so like yours.

Closing Quote

" What I have known with respect to myself, has tended much to lessen both my admiration, and my contempt, of others."
