To friends... those who live beside you and the ones who live 'way 'cross the world. ***************SMASH***************** - KATSINABAG Hi all.. March was a spectacular month for special conferences and lively board threads. Our annual St. Patrick's Day (night) party was great with 42 people, including several old friends, popping in. The high point of the party (for me) was having Cat Moore, past manager of the place stop in and wish us all well. I love events that bring in patrons who have moved on in their lives. It reminds us all I think of how powerful a force Callahans is, was and will be in our lives..:) From Carol: March was a special month for conferences.. Many nights this month were spent talking of love and marriage... getting prepared or being prepared. Silky’s little girl (Lil’Silky) is getting married and mom’s learning the facts of life about growing up. Well, let’s just say her Child is growing up and Silky is fighting it all the way. Vickie (Midustouch) and Rob (Imagines) are all ready to move to a new apartment. We wish them all the best. Congratulations Lil’Silky and Hubby Shane… Vickie and Rob. Bones (Bones10) and I joined in the debate with Silky, Cane (Caneguru) and Peg (Pegasus) about the joy and heart aches of parenthood. Bones’ son Nathan is just learning to walk, Silky’s little girl is getting married, Carol’s son is a typical teenager and Peg’s frogs are jumping all the time. Cane teased us from time to time about having no kids at all.. We all tried to send her our kids for vacation - but she has resisted our efforts - so far..:) I’m still amazed how much time can pass in chat when the laugher is high and the company is good. JP came in with good and bad news about his new boat. The good new was.. He has a boat.. the bad news.. the boat needs work…and a name ! He refuses to paint the boat a pretty pink color or to call it Miss Lucie.. by the end of the night we had decided to put it to the Callahanians in Painting JP's Boat. The traditional St. Patrick’s Day party was a blast again this year. We had a special little visitor, Mr. Sleprechaun. The little guy was serving up drinks, dancing under the table and hanging from the rafters. Could it possibly have something to do with the green beer we were drinking by the quart? ~Or~ was it the fact that the skirted ladies were sliding down the rainbow to find the pot of Gold? Perhaps it was just a warm night..:) Bits served up the best of drinks in her black silk halter top apron as she rolled out the red carpet for a night out at the Oscars. Many Callahanians pranced, swaggered , danced and strolled, and on occasion stumbled down the isle to the bar. Lou was having a little trouble finding his tux. No Lou.. Not the 70’s pale blue polyester sports suit again. !!! March was also the month That Grey met Michael and Ilyana in Philadelphia. He posted pictures. We had two Punday Nights last month and the winners on March 6th were SuzyQ on the topic of "Winter," and Grey on "Sci-Fi." On March 20th the winners were Hombre Verde on the topic of "Spring " and SuzyQ on "Animals." Congrats to all - especially SuzyQ who won twice..:) From Cstar: What do the swallows returning to Capistrano have to do with your computer monitor? In typical Callahan's style, Peter's initial post about the m.i.a. swallows quickly became a discussion about magnetism and computer monitors being hemispheric. You never know where minds are going to wander, but Peg (VE5CAP), Selena (SILLIEST), Cham (WEBMASTERTIP) and Grey (WEREDRAGON) certainly take it in odd directions! There were two discussions about cloning going on as I write this, one a poll started by Cham (WEBMASTERTIP) asking, Do you think cloning of humans is a good idea? in which Kris (TRAUMAMAMA) gives some interesting information regarding organ transplants, where clones might be of real value. Selena was surprised at the results of the poll, will you be? Peg, Will (SIRWILL99), bits (LBT1), Saint (JIMFIVE) and many other patrons chimed into this timely discussion. Congress is holding hearings currently about cloning. It seems they have many questions about it, as do our patrons. (OXNARD) started the second cloning discussion with a Question on Cloning. Does the age of the person donating the DNA matter to the clone? If a man, say 50 years old, is the DNA donor, is the clone starting out with 50 year old cells? There's lots more to this discussion, and chances are it will be a recurring one at Callahan's. Is sociobiology liberal, conservative, or just a load of horse pucky? Peter's at it again, finding interesting subjects out there on the web. I don't even pretend to understand this discussion, but Bob Hall, David, Burrose, Cham, and Robert seem to be able to keep on track. Take a look! Chad's (SHEAR2) collecting Calliversaries! He's got over 130 names so far. He appears to be making his list, and checking it twice! If you'd like to find out the date you first came to Callahan's, just post here, and we'll be wishing you a "Happy Calliversary" some time in the next year! And Chad will begin posting Calliversarieson the board as they happen. We'll collect them all here for you monthly..:) Here are some of our "oldest" denizens:
It may not seem like news to you, but it is to those of us who know him - David Brewer's been shorn! Ideas for what Elizabeth Kate can do with the formerly-attached ponytail? Practice her French braiding skills? Bind it to a stick and use it as a fly swoosher? We're still waiting for pictures, and Silky's sworn she took some! Chad (SHEAR2) aka kestrel, finally got the Lady of his dreams. She's got a body to die for, and sings like an angel in his hands... she's a bit wooden, though. The guitar he's wanted for 25 years has finally consented to be his. David also tells us about the girl of his dreams, but Buffy the chambermaid doesn't sing as pretty as Chad's Lady! The Gathering date is set! Lou announced that the Gathering will take place over the U.S. Labor Day holiday, Thursday - Tuesday. The city and hotel aren't set yet, but we're ready, no matter where it is! Peg (VE5CAP) has a great little short story this month, Move Over Indiana Jones. Just wait 'til you see what a cup of coffee and a frozen gate latch can do for your morning! Are you a superstitious person? Karisma asks. Elizabeth Kate, Cham (WEBMASTERTIP), katiepie (MISYPU), bits (LBT1) and others had a great time discussing superstitions, the lunar effect, and all that spooky stuff. Burrose started a silly bit of play, with her jingle thread. Do you remember these jingles? Do you have a secret ambition? Lots of folks do, but you'll never guess what Lou's (ROSE8364) is! Birthday Greetings were heartily extended to:
Calliversaries Last Month Chad's (SHEAR2) collecting Calliversaries! He's got over 130 names so far. He appears to be making his list, and checking it twice! If you'd like to find out the date you first came to Callahan's, just post here, and we'll be wishing you a "Happy Calliversary" some time in the next year!
